Intralobar bronchopulmonary sequestration with bronchial communication.

چکیده
Surgical resection in mmspected intralobar sequestration can result in fatal hemorrhagic complications. The roentgen criteria for establishing tbis diagnosis are: 1) chronic and recurrent pulmonary Wtrate; 2) most often located in b a s k segments of the lower lobes; 3) multiple cystic areas; 4) failure of contrast media to enter the cystic area during broncbography. We studied two cases of intralobar sequestration where on bronchography the contrast medium entered the cystic areas. To our knowledge only four other similar cases are reported in the literature. In our cases the preoperative diagnosis was confirmed by aortogmphy. Since the roentgenographic and bronchographie findings alone would have suggested the possibility of cystic broncbiectasis, the importance of aortography is stressed.

Bronchial Carcinoid Tumor Arising from an Intralobar Bronchopulmonary Sequestration
We report a rare case of a 38-year-old woman with a bronchial carcinoid tumor arising from an intralobar bronchopulmonary sequestration. The vascular supply to the sequestered left lower lobe originated from the descending thoracic aorta. A left lower lobe lobectomy was performed. The findings of the pathological examination revealed an atypical carcinoid tumor that was immunopositive for chrom...
متن کاملIntralobar Pulmonary Sequestration Masquerading as Lung Abscess: A Rare Paediatric Presentation
Pulmonary sequestration refers to lack of normal airway connection and aberrant vascular supply, and it may be either intralobar or extralobar. Bronchial atresia involving the lower lobes, especially the left lower lobe, is often associated with aberrant systemic arterial connection, forming an “intralobar sequestration” in which a region of parenchyma is functionally isolated from the remainde...
متن کاملIntralobar pulmonary sequestration in conjunction with bronchial isomerism.
Pulmonary sequestration is an uncommon congenital anomaly characterised by a mass of non-functional, dysplastic lung parenchyma that docs not communicate with the normal tracheobronchial tree. Such an anomaly commonly receives its blood supply from the systemic circulation. The sequestered pulmonary segment is considered to be intralobar if it is enclosed within the common pleura enveloping the...
متن کاملA Case Report and a Short Literature Review of Pulmonary Sequestration Showing Elevated Serum Levels of Carbohydrate Antigen 19-9.
Pulmonary sequestration is a type of bronchopulmonary malformation defined as an isolated portion of lung tissue with systemic arterial supply and no bronchial communication. Carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) has been used for diagnosis and follow-up of gastrointestinal tumors. The current study presents a rare case of intralobar pulmonary sequestration associated with the marked elevation of ...
متن کاملPulmonary Sequestration: Early Diagnosis and Management
Intralobar sequestration is characterized by aberrant formation of nonfunctional lung tissue that has no communication with the bronchial tree and receives systemic arterial blood supply. Failure of earlier diagnosis can lead to recurrent pneumonia, failure to thrive, multiple hospital admissions, and more morbidity. The aim of this case report is to increase the awareness about the lung seques...
